Already clinching the series, West Indies made it a clean sweep of Afghanistan winning the third and final T20 match of the series.
Yet again Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first. I must say their batting lineup displayed more confident and determined to get a competitive total. They ended the innings on 146 for the loss of 6 wickets, with 5 players getting into double figures. Top scoring for them was Mohammad Nabi who got a well played 38 consisting of 2 4s and 2 6s. In addition, opener Noor Ali Zadran made an impressive 35 runs from some 19 balls, including 5 4s and 2 6s. Kesrick Williams was the leading wicket taker for the West Indies, ending with figures of 3-34 off his four overs.
Chasing 147, the West Indies will loss their first wicket in the first over with the second ball. Chadwick Walton played one and was caught by Samiullah Shenwari going for a golden duck. In came Marlon Samuels who lead the West Indies to victory with his incredible batting performance. Hitting the ball all over the oval, getting a 66 balls 89 runs including 9 4s and 3 6s, he surely was the star of the match. The West Indies will lose a further 2 wickets getting to their target in the 20th over, ending on 147-3.
Marlon Samuels will get both the man of the match and man of the series awards, surely deserved.
The West Indies and Afghanistan now move to St.Lucia to play the 3-match ODI series, June 9th 2017-June 14th 2017.
