Barbados Tridents VS Jamaica Tallawahs
Match 3 (August 5th)
With this first encounter between these two teams, the Barbados Tridents won the toss and elected to bat first. Opening for the Tridents were Dwayne Smith and newcomer Kane Williamson, both getting starts but couldn’t progress throughout the innings. Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik lead the way for the Tridents, top scoring with 33. It was South Africa’s Wayne Parnell and Akeal Hosein who both chipped in to advance the score to 142-7 after the 20 overs were bowled. Leading the wicket taking for the Tallawahs were Krishmar Santokie, Kesrick Williams and Imad Wasim who each picked up 2 wickets.
With Chris Gayle and Chadwick Walton playing for new franchises the Tallawahs had a new opening pair of, Lendl Simmons and captain Kumar Sangakkara, who lasted just one ball. However, Simmons continued to flourish the Tallawahs innings with his batting getting to a half century, problem was other batsmen wasn’t contributing on the other end. Once Simmons was out the Tallawahs chance of victory was slowly decreasing. Eventually, the Tridents won the game by 12 runs, Tallawahs ended on 130-6 (20 overs).
Match 5 (August 6th)
Returning on Sunday for their second encounter, the Jamaica Tallawahs ensured that they earned a win and picked up 2 points.
The Tallawahs batted first, Lendl Simmons and Andre McCarthy put on a 51-run partnership before Simmons was dismissed on 30 in the 11th over, Wahab Riaz the bowler. In that same over Riaz claimed two more wickets, removing Imad Wasim and Rovman Powell Tallawahs batting 4-65. Bowlers from Pakistan are truly shining in this year’s CPL Tournament. The combination of McCarthy and Shakib Al Hasan started to rebuild the Tallawahs innings, putting on a 84-run partnership. Final over of the innings McCarthy departed on 60, Al Hasan remained not out on 44. Total score at the end was a massive 154-5, Riaz being the pick of the bowlers getting 3 wickets.

Coming in with the score on 48-3, captain of the Tridents Kieron Pollard got things going for his team blasting 6 6s and 2 4s in his knock of 62. Batsmen kept entering and departing at the other end, Pollard wasn’t getting any support from the other end. The Tridents innings came to an end when all batsmen were removed for 142 runs. Mohammad Sami claimed 4 of the Barbados Tridents wickets, Tallawahs winnings by 12 runs.
