Sporty Saturdays #3

Blessed Saturday to all, welcome back to Sporty Saturdays. Today’s post is going to be all about basketball. Let’s get right into it now…..

🏀 DeMarcus Cousins

With just 8.1 seconds remaining in the game New Orleans Pelicans player DeMarcus Cousins tore his left Achilles, after attempting a rebound on Friday 26th January against the Houston Rockets. Cousins was escorted out by fellow players, it was later confirmed by various sources that after doing an MRI, he indeed tore his left Achilles which will need surgery to repair and will be out for the rest of the 2017-2018 basketball season. The Pelicans went on to win the game, 115-113 with Cousins ending on a triple double, 15 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. This is a sad situation for the Pelicans as Cousins is one of their dominant players. Injuries are sure a hard thing especially when you are doing what you love, hoping Cousins has a speedy recovery. Although this is a big blow for the Pelicans I do hope that they really push forward and advance to the playoff round.

🏀 NBA All Star Weekend

This consists of two teams, one with United States of America players and another with players which come from other countries that play in the professional NBA League. NBA All Star Match

So this year for the All Star teams the NBA took a different approach, basically to mix thing up a bit. There was the voting process, the players with the most votes were subjected to be captains. At the end of the votes, LeBron James and Stephen Curry were captains and picked their teams.

Team LeBron

Starters – LeBron James (Cavaliers), DeMarcus Cousins (Pelicans), Anthony Davis (Pelicans), Kevin Durant  (Warriors), Kyrie Irving (Celtics)

Reserves – Lamarcus Aldrige (Spurs), Bradley Beal (Wizards), Kevin Love (Cavaliers), Victor Oladipo (Pacers), Kristaps Porzings (Knicks), John Wall (Wizards), Russell Westbrook (OKC)

* Although Cousins is on the starters list, it is subjected to change since he recently suffered an injury.
